(More customer reviews)This is the same drive that is available on the HP website at a significantly higher price. It was sooooo easy to install, using HP's well-produced instructions from it's "How to..." web page, taking less than 5 minutes from the time I unplugged every thing till I replaced the front and side covers of the tower. Windows 7 recognized it, immediately on start up, and it's already been used for burning a couple of discs. The Nero 8 Essentials software that comes with the drive has long been my favorite ripping/burning/copying software, even over Roxio. This was a great buy all the way around and the drive has twice the speed of the original-equipment drive that died of old age after a long and useful career.
Once again, Amazon's SuperSaver shipping option was great. No shipping cost and the drive was shipped the same day it was ordered. Taking into account the weekend, the package arrived in 4 business days. I don't think anybody can top that! Thanks again, Amazon!~
