My 6 year old son loves this book. I photocopy the pages and let him go. I homeschool and we use this book as filler while I am setting up for other lessons. I am always amazed at the creative pictures he comes up with. (What happens to our imaginations as we grow older). He asks for more pages every time.

Keep primary students writing joyfully every day. Sketch and Scribe capitalizes on a child's creativity and ability to visualize while building writing skills. Thinking, imagining, and writing are woven into this collection of open-ended writing activities that ask students to complete a drawing and then, using the idea starter that accompanies each drawing, write about their drawing. It provides a wide variety of language experiences and integrates the functions of both the right and left brain into one creative expression.Provocative situations in simple line drawings elicit pencil sketches and crayon illustrations. These elaborative drawings form the pupil-centered, pupil-created prelude to creative writing. Imagination and illustration provide the motivation and form supportive components for written work. This book provides opportunities to imagine and then express those figments via illustration and written language.Grades 1-3
