A novel based on true experience. Takes place in Australia in early 1800's. Very good reading, easy to read, sheds light on the country and natives before immigrants from England changed the ways of native people in the area. Excellent book to read for a couple hours at a time.

Based on a true story, this historical novel tells the tale of a young English convict, William Buckley, who escaped an early settlement and survived in the wilderness of Australia for 32 years. Having been adopted by local aboriginal tribes, Buckley finally returned to Australian civilization and served as a guide and interpreter between the two cultures. But as he became trapped in the rapidly ensuing conflict between two vastly different societies, Buckley found himself mistrusted by his former aboriginal friends and by his white compatriots.
