The keyboard arived quickly and in perfect condition. Dell's documentation is bad so I'll leave some tips here:
1. Go and buy a thin (as thin as you can get) plastic scribe or wedge type object. Walmart should have something. If you take one of those keys that broke off your old key board that is about how thin you should shoot for. I didn't have one of those scribes/wedges so I actually just wedged in like 6 old broken keys along the back and then started prying it up.
2. To take the control panel off remove the screw from the battery bay and then wedge the plastic scribe in the crack of the back of the speaker cover. Keep wedging and gently prying it open, but do not try and yank it open you might snap your speaker cover or a plastic connector. Be gentle, but use some force to get the wedge firmly into the crack. Try and take it off as evenly as possible to avoid breaking anything. In my case the keyboard cover was attached to the speaker cover which is part of what makes the Dell documentation so confusing.
3. When inserting the new keyboard's connecters, they do not snap in, but slide in loosely. Push the connector up as far as it goes (not far) and then push the plastic latch down to lock it in place. You shouldn't be able to see the metal part of the end of the cord (or more than a very small thin strip of it).
Anyway, great product. I actually upgraded from a standard keyboard to the backlit if anyone is wondering about that, every 1555 has an extra connector for the backlit ribbon.
