(More customer reviews)What is race? One hundred years ago, human minds probed this question as thoroughly as they do today. "The Unknown Man" follows young Jim, a white baby who was left in the care of a black widow. Raised as the widow's own, Jim grows up in a very different place than other white children - amid an early twentieth century black community. When he comes of age, he begins to track down his roots, but only finds controversy at every turn. "The Unknown Man" was originally published in 1915, but remains utterly fascinating to this day.
