The Deuteronomic History and the Book of Chronicles: Scribal Works in an Oral World (Society of Biblical Literature Ancient Israel and Its Literature) Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)Person contributes here a convincing, well-reasoned argument in viewing the Deuteronomic history and the Book of Chronicles with new eyes--or rather, with ancient ones. Drawing from research done of various oral texts, he illustrates precisely how this ought to impact our understanding of ancient Near East oral cultures and the textual traditions they produced. A book with at once a seemingly modest thesis, Person's monograph makes a loud statement and does much to further the ongoing conversations within Old Testament studies.
