Scribes, Script, and Books: The Book Arts from Antiquity to the Renaissance Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)An excellent overview of the evolution of the book in the West, prior to printing. Although a scholarly work, it has the presentation of a coffee-table book. As a coffee-table book it fails due to the lackluster illustrations and the price is forbidding. Nevertheless, as a general reference with all the apropos information in a single volume, it is an impressive book and an excellent gift for any booklover with a passion for understanding the antecedents of the medium.
