(More customer reviews)I purchased the LaCie D2 DVD Firewire Burner with Lightscribe® more than a year ago to use with my Apple iMac. I bought it so I could give my photo customers a custom looking DVD of their paid for images. I only used it a couple of times because the packaged Lightscribe® software didn't always recognize the the burner. I would have to cycle the power many times before it would finally "see" the burner and work. After many months of not using it, I thought by now Lacie would have released a fix for the problem, but they don't even recognize there is a problem. According to the blogs it is a very common problem even with their USB ext HD's. I've tried uninstalling the software, updating the software and reloading it, but nothing. It is a very nice looking, stylish unit, but that does me no good as a paper weight! The few times it worked it worked perfectly. This problem seem to exist between both the Apple and MS platform with either USB or Firewire. I can't recommend this product with a clear conscience to anyone especially when you can't even depend on LaCie for technical assistance.
This is an update to the above posted review: A week after I posted the above review I sent the burner back to LaCie to be repaired it is now working perfectly every time. The folks at LaCie was great. My unit was out of warranty, but they repaired it free of charge and shipped it back to me. The repair did not require any parts just labor. Apparently they had to flash or upgrade the firmware. It now works better than it did when I first purchased it. My Mac "see's" it each and every time I turn it on.

I have 5 different types of iphone stylus; the soft rounded tip type work great for typing in portrait mode, the hard tipped variety are useless on an iphone. I have been satisfied with the soft rounded tip type stylus, but I did not receive what I thought I was ordering per the picture.

(More customer reviews)I have been anticipating this product for about a year, so I was probably set up for the mild disappointment I experienced when it arrived. The early user review I read was almost certainly a plant since it pretty much was a rewording of the promotional materials preceding the product's release. For sure, the pen is pretty "cool" and quite a conversation piece, but there are a few drawbacks that are evident to me.
First, you have to hunt around for the electronic documentation since there are no printed instructions at all. That's not impossible, but somewhat annoying, especially when the documentation you do find is not all that clear. With a little time it can all be figured out, but it's certainly not plug and play out of the box. That brings us to the second issue, actually using it.
Very often the "recorder" doesn't start when the pen starts to move, so the resulting image (words or hand drawn graphics) has a lot of blank or missing parts. Slowing down a great deal helps a little, but still there are quite a few gaps. And slowing down to check the little light while taking notes during a presentation defeats the purpose of the thing anyway.
Finally, the resulting proprietary file which can only be exported through the cumbersome pdf format rather than the easily and widely used jpg format is very inconvenient. And the character recognition is actually sort of humorous in its inaccuracies. I suppose if I took the time to carefully print each number and letter the accuracy would improve, but again, that's not notetaking as it is usually performed.
I guess it's amazing that the thing works at all, but it's still just a little disappointing. I'll hang on to it because it's fun to have and show people, but it's probably easier just to scan the notes.

From reading the other review, it doesn't seem like he has actually used the pen?? I don't understand why he would have given a bad review?
I have had my Digital Scribe for about a week or so and the unit actually works pretty well.
This picture is wrong though. It is actually a small base that clips onto your paper from the top or angled on the sides (pretty accurate). I have used the unit to write papers because we are required to have a hand written rough draft and then transfer it into word. I can do both at the same time where all my friends have to write their paper and then type it all back into word, saves me a bunch of time.
The software that comes with it is a lite version, but it serves its purpose very well, I can write and translate the text, which is what I bought it for. Its amazing how accurate the pen picks up my writing as well, I have chicken scratch for writing and it does my writing justice, and I don't mind having to correct a word here and there it beats having to type it all out again. So if you are considering this product, im giving it my stamp of approval. IT WORKS and it SAVES me a WHOLE BUNCH OF TIME.
p.s. I wrote thin with my pen, converted it into word and then copied it over into the review.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this drive so I could load movies onto my Acer One Netbook. Needless to say, it has functioned flawlessly. It does not require an external AC Adapter (if so inclined you will need a 5v one). The software suite that comes with the drive is excellent (Cyberlink Power DVD, Nero Express and SecurDisc to name a few). And did I mention that the drive also has LightScribe!!! I have used this drive with just the included USB cable but it also come with a USB to 5V DC cable if your USB port does not provide enough power. The only issue I had was the confusing interface when loading the software - it took a little trial and error to get the software installed on my Acer One. Once done, this drive works like a charm!!! If you have a Netbook - this is a MUST GET accessory.

However, I can not say that about any other LightScribe disc manufacturers; Philips discs being the worst of all - most of the Philips discs failing to operate properly in the DVD burner.

(More customer reviews)This is a great little DVD/CD reader/writer drive. Mine worked fine right out of the box, no software installation required. It will run on USB power alone OR if you'd like, it ALSO has an regular AC cord. I haven't used the AC cord, but it's nice to know that I have it just in case... It also comes with a nice black pouch to store/transport and protect it and a SHORT USB cord (but functional). Good stuff.
I had my own full version of Nero 8 Software so I didn't use the included software to burn DVD/CDs. It worked great with my software.
The unit is slim (about an inch high) and doesn't weigh much (12 oz). I've used it with my Acer Aspire One (Windows XP) on USB power and it works like a charm! No need for an extra A/C adapter since it's completely powered by the USB, even when the Acer is on battery! (I installed some software from a DVD on my Aspire One during a power outage and everything worked great.) I'm taking this on my trips for when I really need to access a DVD (with my Aspire) or if I want to burn a backup CD or DVD. This is great!
My tray drawer lines up and closes perfectly fine and the unit looks good as far as being study... it's not metal, I wouldn't step on it, but the plastic looks good and seems solid enough for me.
Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase and recommend it especially with an Acer Aspire One.

What I don't like is the ink quality. The pen itself does not flow smoothly and the ink skips. I haven't tried to change the ink yet so maybe that will make it a better writing tool.

Otherwise it looks great, fairly quiet, and burns as expected. I haven't tried the light scribe yet. comes with a bundled oem nero 9. Glossy top, the type that shows all finger prints, but matches my netbook lid. Price was fair, and its compact enough to fit in my small netbook travel bag.

Spartan Edge 7 Target Tower Light Scribe DVD Duplicator D07-SSP-L Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the Spartan Edge Lightscribe 7 bay duplicator with USB Port and HDD (D07-SSP-L) for a corporate project. The only instructions given or available is a "quick start" guide that is woefully difficult to understand and has very, very little explanation of the unit's features.
I finally discovered after MANY trials that in order to copy a Lightscribe Image, you have to create the LSI file using the included LS software, burn the LSI file to a folder on your computer, and then "copy" (not burn) the LSI file to a CD (not a DVD), insert that disk into the Master Drive, then it works. However, no matter how good the quality of the LSI image (which I created in high quality), when that image is burned to LS disks in the tower, the resulting copies are standard, medium quality. LS image burning takes about 27 minutes per run.
I then burned 400 High Quality Memorex DVD+R disks which were capabe of 16X speed, however, there were too many failures burning at 16X or even at 12X. Again, thru trial and error, I finally got acceptable results burning at 8X speed.
Overall, this machine does what it's designed to do, but you're better off having a lot of computer savvy!

(More customer reviews)These seem to burn really well. I've gone through three packs now without a single lost DVD. By the way, if you have a lightscribe burner and haven't tried the actual label burning yet, you've gotta try it. The labels look really good (considering that they're burned on), but the burning of the label can take more than 20 minutes if it's a complex label.
Overall a great product here in these DVDs.

SPARTAN 9 Target SATA Light-Scribe Tower DVD Duplicator D09-SSP-L Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great machine. The copy function works just as expected. On my first run I was able to make 30+ CD copies in less than 20 minutes with minimal effort.
The only problem with these machines is that they are hardly user friendly. This model is operated using the tiny LCD panel and 4 navigation buttons. It has been a pain in the neck to get the Lightscribe function working as it requires messing with drivers on your PC and making the best of limited documentation.
